A Chance for Life – The World of the Francke Foundations in Halle

What makes the Francke Foundations a place that has been inspiring and bringing people together for more than 300 years? Answers are provided by the MDR documentary from the series »Der Osten – Entdecke wo du lebst« (The East – Discover where you live), which will be broadcast on 11 August at 9 pm.
Beate Gerber’s documentary tells the stories of people whose lives have taken a special turn here: Mercy, a young programmer from India, comes to Halle for a year of voluntary service and discovers new perspectives for her life. Claudia Langosch developed a fascination for August Hermann Francke as a teenager, which she still holds to this day.

The film tells moving stories, takes a look behind the scenes of the historic university town and shows why the Francke Foundations continue to open up opportunities to this day – in Halle and beyond.
