As a recreational educational facility, the after-school care centre offers a wide range of activities and projects to support and encourage our children in their development. Special cultural education and democracy promotion programmes are at the heart of our educational offerings.
After-School Centre August Hermann Francke

About us
Our Concept
Since 2001, our after-school care centre has been run by the Francke Foundations and offers children aged six to twelve a reliable, stimulating and appreciative place to be. Our dedicated team of state-certified educators has a wide range of additional qualifications, including in rehabilitation and relaxation pedagogy, cultural and media education, and child protection. Transcultural activities shape our everyday life and promote open coexistence, in which diversity is experienced as an enrichment. Together with parents and families, we actively shape integration and accompany the children in their social and personal development. Non-violent conflict resolution and the strengthening of communication and social skills are at the heart of this. For children in Year 4, we offer special, life-oriented care that strengthens their independence and gently prepares them for the transition to secondary school. In 2011, the after-school care centre was awarded the Integration Prize of the State of Saxony-Anhalt.
Cooperations
The after-school centre is part of a vibrant network of dedicated partners. On the foundation's premises, we work closely with the August Hermann Francke Primary School and our colleagues in school social work, as well as with various institutions and initiatives. We also cooperate with other partners in the city. These diverse collaborations create additional spaces for children to develop their interests, strengthen their social skills and experience the city as a vibrant place to learn and live.

DETAILSOur Rooms
The after-school care centre is located in the daycare centre on Voßstraße. There, we have our own floor at our disposal, which can be adapted functionally and flexibly to our varied daily routine.
The first classes are looked after in a branch of the August Hermann Francke primary school. Our rooms open directly onto the large garden, which we share with the children from the Montessori Kinderhaus and the Amos Comenius daycare centre. Our after-school care centre has various themed rooms that can be used depending on the activity group or interest: a music room, theatre room, exercise room, technology and science room, creative room, a wood workshop and various smaller areas such as a reading corner, a puppet theatre, a building corner and an art corner.
