August Hermann Francke Day Care Center

Our nursery and kindergarden places are designed for children from the age of nine weeks until they start school. We look after your child in age-homogeneous groups. In our house, we give great importance to openness to the world and a reference-oriented approach to work. The well-being of your child is our top priority. Our committed and qualified pedagogical specialists discover the world together with the children and support them to develop into cheerful, socially competent, self-confident and learning personalities.

About us

Our Concept

At our nursery, we look after children in fixed groups with reliable key carers who give them security, trust and a stable bond. Where possible, the children are looked after by at least one qualified teacher from the gentle settling-in period until they start school. Our educational work is based on Jürgen Zimmer's situational approach: The children's current life situations, interests and topics are the focus of attention and are continuously incorporated into the planning and organisation of our daily routine. We promote the holistic development of the children through regular reading aloud by our reading grandmothers and a variety of creative, sporting and real-life activities. In our daycare centre, children from different countries of origin experience cultural diversity as an enrichment and learn openness, respect and community.

Our educational programme is complemented by close cooperation with other organisations, which broadens the children's experiences and brings their everyday life at the daycare centre to life.

Our Rooms

Our unique, spacious and cosy building has six bright group rooms. With the exception of the ground-floor room for the settling-in group, older children have several floors to explore, play, move around and learn. From the age of three, children have access to a creative room adjacent to each group room, equipped with various painting and craft supplies. Each group room has access to the garden and its own bathroom. To promote a wide range of gross motor skills, the nursery groups take turns using our sports room, which is equipped with mats, benches, smaller equipment and combinable exercise equipment. The centrepiece of our building is the ‘great hall’ with our own giant slide and a grand piano. This is used for numerous festivities and celebrations, as well as for late-afternoon activities when the weather is bad.

Our garden

As our nursery is located in the middle of the Francke Foundations, we enjoy a very peaceful environment – far away from traffic noise. Our large, natural garden offers plenty of space for outdoor activities and numerous opportunities for educational activities and exercise. The play equipment – such as climbing frames, slides, swings, sandpits and water features – is inspired by Indian culture (the Francke Foundations have maintained close ties with India for over 300 years).
